Here, founder of dating platform The Inner Circle, David Vermeulen, gives you a tick-list of tell-tale signs that show ‘you’ve got it bad’.
You want them to meet your friends
You have been on a couple of dates, and you start to imagine how great it would be to see your best friends and your date, sharing jokes, banter and generally getting along. This thought subsequently results in a Cheshire cat grin forming across your face: you’ve got it bad.
When you see their name light up on your phone and your stomach flips
We have all been there, waiting by the phone for your date to text back. The elation and stomach flip followed by butterflies when their name appears. The frustration and loud exhale when your phone lights up and it’s your mum just checking in: you’ve got it bad.

The Inner Circle
This site describes itself as the way to meet ‘the most successful and attractive singles.’ It asks users to fill out their job title and education, and links to Facebook so you can view their social circle. Before you join, the app has to approve you as a member (a slightly daunting process) or you have to be invited. If you want to unlock certain features you either have to pay or invite other to join. A friend who uses it tells me: “It’s good if you’re picky… but there aren’t a lot of people on it.”

Throw down the dumb-bell, put away that pout and for goodness’ sake put on some clothes. Singles in London might think they have the dating game sussed after the explosion in popularity of dating apps such as Tinder but if they want to make it into the Premier League of match-making, they had better up their game and forget posing for selfies.

Fast lifestyles and aspiring careers mean some of the city’s high fliers don’t commit to swiping through hundreds of online profiles in the hope of finding the one – finding love was like window shopping rather than trying it on to see if it fits.

We checked out the London dating app that is restricted to ‘successful, attractive people’ only
The Inner Circle, London’s latest dating website and app, bills itself as a network for “like-minded” individuals; a “high-end”, “exclusive community” with an “impressive following of successful and attractive people.” “The Inner Circle is the first and only dating website with a strict invite-only policy that includes a thorough screening upon registration to ensure eligible singles with similar lifestyles and mutual friends can meet each other in a friendly and trustworthy community,” the website explains. What really sets The Inner Circle apart, though, CEO and cofounder David Vermeulen tells us, is its “exclusive parties” — held at some of London’s “most glamorous” venues. Barts in Chelsea, Whisky Mist in Mayfair, and Bodo’s Schloss in Kensington have been on the list. Although the entry rules are strict, Vermeulen has also provided plenty of features to keep users engaged once they are in. The site just launched in London after setting up in Paris, Milan, Barcelona, Stockholm and Amsterdam, where it was founded. In social dating terms, The Inner Circle is a more complex, European equivalent to US app The League. So far, 50,000 people have been approved; there’s a waiting list of far more. Create your own Circle with 2 friends and meetup with other Circles at awesome places around town!
It’s very simple:
1. Create your own Circle with two other friends
2. Check out other Circles, chat and share original date ideas
3. When you get along well, meet up and have a fun night out!
David Vermeulen (38, founder) explains the reason for integrating Circles: “Our members live fast lifestyles and have little free time for friends and to go on dates. We were often asked if we could find a way to combine both via our website. This resulted in Circles, the way for our members to go out with their friends and go on a date at the same time!”
